I needed to go back to the car for my camera, which I forgot. Oh course it was after the market started and this is what I saw. Cars parked everywhere and lots of people with their children. And of course, the dogs.........

A very pretty but unwelcome visitor

One morning before I let out the sheep, I looked out my front window and saw a deer on the front lawn/pasture. By the time I could get to the camera it had moved to the end of the drive.
As much as I appreciate their beauty and gracefulness, I do not appreciate the disease they can bring to my sheep. So I was happy to see it go. I hope it did not have too much trouble jumping the 4' fence where it was heading. I assume it came down the driveway to get here. Now, if it were a moose, it would simply walk over my fences....

Year 2 for Jerry shearing the Merinos in Weare

I am finally getting a chance to catch up my blog. The next few days will be a flurry of pictures and writing. (o; These pictures are from June 22nd.

It was a lot cooler this year and he had a year of shearing under his belt. It still took 2 weekends only because we got caught in a thunder storm. These pictures are day 2.

You can just hear Dorcas saying 'If we don't look at him, he can't see us.'

Karen is behind Jerry skirting the fleece so it will be ready for her to send off.



She and David have very nice fleeces from their pet sheep flock.


And then David brings out this beast. I know it is a rooster, but I do not remember what kind. He did tell me that it is rare. Look at the colors on this bird!! Oh, to be able to duplicate that in my dye pot. And look at the spurs on him!! It is a good thing that this is a friendly chicken.

One of my stops, Rocky Cannoli's Red Barn Farm Bakery, and their Guinea hens. It looks like they were squawking (and trust me they were, loudly) 'What do you mean you are not open?'

God's rainbow

(I apologize for not posting lately. I started back to work 5 days a week and I am doing 3 farmer's markets. I have loads of pictures and updates to do when it is not thundering and lightening here...)

A number of us have been on rainbow watch this spring/summer. Until tonight, none of us have spotted a rainbow. We know God's promise, and were beginning to wonder if He was showing us His displeasure in our treatment of our earth by not showing the promised rainbow. But, tonight He gave Jerry & I a full rainbow and about 10 minutes to enjoy it. So, I bring you our view of the rainbow.

There is a slight double rainbow going on here.

Looks like our barn is at the end of the rainbow. I know most days my sheep feel like my 'pot of gold' just in their worth to me in their calming effect at the end of a long day!



Genesis 9:12-16-And God said, "This is the sign of the covenant I am making between me and you and every living creature with you, a covenant for all generations to come. I have set my rainbow in the clouds, and it will be the sign of the covenant between me and the earth. Life is starting to slow down which means-
1. Posting will resume at all my blogs. (as it has started here)
2. Pictures of all the knitting done while Jerry was shearing will get posted. (at my knitting blog)
3. The house might get cleaned. (o;
